Instructions

1

Peel banana, put it in a bowl and mash with a fork. Peel apple and grate finely. Set aside.

2

In a bowl, whisk together coconut oil, mashed banana, apple sauce, vanilla extract, and hazelnut milk.

3

Sieve spelt flour, oats, and baking powder to a separate bowl. Add ground almonds, chia seeds, cinnamon, and salt. Mix well.

4

Combine the contents of both bowls, add grated apple, and mix to combine. If the batter is too thick, add milk.

5

Preheat your waffle maker. Ladle the batter in and bake for 3–4 mins (depending on the type of your waffle maker). The batter yields about 10 medium-sized waffles.

TIP
The waffles can be served drizzled with honey and topped with extra fruit or, for example, with hazelnut or peanut cream. You can also garnish them with a few sprigs of mint.

My first homemade waffle. Replaced the spelled flour with a gluten-free flour mix. Was delicious 😋
